Recently, on Martha Stewart John Barricelli baked two delicious desserts, Regina Lord taught Martha how to make eyeball t-shirts, and Dr. Goldstein discussed pet care.

This Martha Stewart show was packed with gardening tips, baking sweets, crafts, and learning about healthy food options for pets.

Gardening Tips

A viewer wrote to Martha about her fussy Ficus Benjamina. The viewer, Laticia, requested advice about repotting her plant which looked like it was dying. Martha instructed Laticia to follow these steps:

  1. Put pot shards in the bottom of the new, bigger pot.
  2. Add soil to the pot.
  3. Add two tablespoons of Osmocote fertilizer. Mix in the soil.
  4. Take the Ficus out of the current container and scrape down the sides and bottom of the plant to loosen the roots.
  5. Replace the Ficus into the new pot. Fill in soil around it.
  6. Water the Ficus every three days and feed it once a week.

Regina Lord

Regina Lord taught Martha how to make t-shirts with eyeballs on them. Regina reported that her kids loved wearing the t-shirts. The craft looked easy to make if one knows how to use a sewing machine. For more information on how to make these t-shirts go to this page on the Martha Stewart website.

John Baricelli

Owner of the SoNo Baking Company and Café, John Baricelli, baked a pineapple-mango upside-down cake and a tarte tatin. When baking the pineapple-mango upside-down cake he told Martha that the trick to the batter is adding the eggs one at a time. Both desserts were beautiful.

Dr. Marty Goldstein

Veterinarian, Dr. Goldstein, discussed pet care with Martha Stewart. They talked about healthy human foods that can be good for dogs and cats. He said that many human foods can be mixed with pet food to make a delicious and nutritious meal for dogs and cats. He reported that people can feed their pets salmon and sardines or add fish oil to pet food for pets that have dry skin or coats. Dr. Marty advised viewers to keep an aloe plant in their homes and use to rub on their pets dry spots or dry noses. He said that a good remedy for diarrhea is feeding pets a bowl of 50 percent pumpkin and 50 percent chicken. Also, he recommended feeding broccoli and red and yellow vegetables to pets to prevent cancer.

Dr. Goldstein also discussed unhealthy human foods for pets. He reported that people should never give their pets garlic, onion, chocolate, coffee beans, raisins, grapes, or macadamia nuts. He reported that if a pet eats one of the following ingredients, the pet’s owner should contact his veterinarian immediately. Dr. Marty said, “It’s better to be safe than sorry.”

On this episode of Martha Stewart, Martha gave gardening tips to a viewer, Regina Lord taught the viewers how to make eyeball t-shirts, John Baricelli baked two desserts, and Dr. Goldstein discussed healthy pet care.
