John BaricelliOwner of the SoNo Baking Company and Café, John Baricelli, baked a pineapple-mango upside-down cake and a tarte tatin. When baking the pineapple-mango upside-down cake he told Martha that the trick to the batter is adding the eggs one at a time. Both desserts were beautiful. Dr. Marty GoldsteinVeterinarian, Dr. Goldstein, discussed pet care with Martha Stewart. They talked about healthy human foods that can be good for dogs and cats. He said that many human foods can be mixed with pet food to make a delicious and nutritious meal for dogs and cats. He reported that people can feed their pets salmon and sardines or add fish oil to pet food for pets that have dry skin or coats. Dr. Marty advised viewers to keep an aloe plant in their homes and use to rub on their pets dry spots or dry noses. He said that a good remedy for diarrhea is feeding pets a bowl of 50 percent pumpkin and 50 percent chicken. Also, he recommended feeding broccoli and red and yellow vegetables to pets to prevent cancer. Dr. Goldstein also discussed unhealthy human foods for pets. He reported that people should never give their pets garlic, onion, chocolate, coffee beans, raisins, grapes, or macadamia nuts. He reported that if a pet eats one of the following ingredients, the pet’s owner should contact his veterinarian immediately.
