A day of hot topics on The View is always filled with controversial topics and on Wednesday, May 20th, the women discussed twitter, American Idol, Nancy Pelosi, and more.
The women of The View, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd, consistently discuss their opinions of the hottest topics in the news and on the web. Barbara Walters opened the show by reminding the audience that this is fleet week in New York City. Whoopi and Sherri stated that they saw Terminator Salvation the night before and highly recommended the movie to viewers. Twitter AlertThe women have been discussing the concept of twittering for the past couple of months and brought it up on the program again when a twitter alert alarmed many people. A radio station in Jackonsville, Florida reported that Patrick Swayze died and this information was picked up by a television station in Germany. The news broke on twitter which can reach millions of people in a matter of minutes. Whoopi was fast to clear up the rumor by letting everyone know that Patrick Swayze is still living. American Idol Elisabeth is usually the co-host to bring up American Idol; however, Barbara hastily jumped in to give her opinion. Barbara reported the two finalists, Adam and Kris, are much different from each other. Barbara made a point to show that Adam was wearing dark nail polish and eyeliner which she noted as “theatrical.” She encouraged everyone to vote and was extremely enthusiastic about the program. Nancy PelosiThe women of The View cover many news topics such as the current drama around Nancy Pelosi. They discussed whether she should step down due to her statements to Congress, and conservative co-host, Elisabeth, quickly pointed out her opinion that she should resign. Not everyone agreed that Nancy Pelosi should lose her job over this mistake. Glenn BeckThe face of The Glenn Beck Program was a guest on the show. Barbara Walters introduced him by stating that he is known for being the “mad as hell host” on the Fox News Channel. Joy Behar couldn’t hold back when she said, “When you cry, does it come natural or do you have to pull a hair out of your nose?” Glenn admitted that he was more nervous coming on The View than eh was talking to the President. Barbara and Whoopi confronted Glenn Beck about statements he made on his radio program. On the radio program he made fun of Barbara and stated things that Whoopi said were flat out lies. Barbara asked, “Do you ever check your facts?” This part of the show ended with Barbara asking Glenn about his true convictions without Glenn giving an answer. Tomorrow, the ladies on The View, will be discussing hot topics with Larry King and the stars of SOAPnet’s new reality series, Southern Belles.
