Hot Topics on The View

The View co-hosts discussed President Obama’s current trip to Saudi Arabia. They reported that Michelle Obama did not accompany her husband on the trip and discussed reasons why she might have skipped this trip. They joked that someone needed to stay home to walk the dog.

After discussing world matters, the women moved on to talk about Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s latest drama when they left the reality show, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here. Apparently, Spencer and Heidi said that they were leaving the show because real celebrities don’t belong in the jungle. The View contacted them to have them appear on the show, and their agent said that they were on their way back to I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here. During one of the interviews on the reality show, Heidi was spraying an unidentified substance in her hair. Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked what it was and Sherri replied, “Brains.”

Elisabeth announced that she was upset regarding an article that was on the Playboy website. She reported that it was demeaning to women and was filled with sexualized violence. Elisabeth said that Playboy took the article down after they realized that they would lose readers.

Vanessa Williams Releases Album

Vanessa Williams released her first solo album in four years and came on the view to be interviewed and to perform one of her new songs. Vanessa is one of the stars of the hit show, Ugly Betty, and reported that the show would be moving to Friday at 9:00 p.m. The co-hosts of The View asked Vanessa about using Botox, because she has openly admitted to using the cosmetic enhancements. After her interview she sang, She Don’t Move.

ABC Correspondent Claire Shipman

One of the two authors of the book, Womenomics: Write Your Own Rules for Success [HarperBusiness, 2009], Claire Shipman answered questions about her life and her book. She reported that more women are telling their bosses that they want to work three days a week in the office and two days a week at home. Claire said that valuable employees can ask for more than what they do, and women want control over their time. The co-hosts of The View asked if men can also do this, and she reported that more men are working from home as well. Claire reported that the younger generation doesn’t want to work by the old rules.

Don’t miss the next episode of The View featuring Chandra Wilson and Paula Froelich.
